The Yeoman’s Son
The Yeoman’s son is a poignant poem written by one time Bow resident Cicely Fox Smith about the loss during WW1. It was published in 1916 in the year of the battle of the Somme so would have been very relevant at the time. Within days of suggesting he look at Cicely’s work singer/songwriter Michael Tinker set the ‘The Yeoman’s Son’ to music and the result is a beautiful song that reflects the sentiment of Cicely’s poem. The Heart of Devon are pleased that by fundraising we were able to sponsor the recording of the track. It seems fitting that this has been done on the 60th anniversary of Cicely’s death and the centenary of the outbreak of WW1. The song is included on the album ‘Bright Season’ which is available from iTunes, Amazon, Bandcamp and other digital outlets.
